PAWPRINTS (SYMPATHY)

We worked with Ellie Kane of Nashville to create this card. She was lucky enough to share 25 years with a wonderful green-cheeked conure, Tiffany. For many people, animals become members of their family. “She was my baby girl,” Ellie shares. “I don’t use the word ‘pet’. It suggests ownership over the animal and I have always seen them more as companions or friends.” While Ellie acknowledges that there are few words that will ease the sadness after such a loss, she believes it is still important to let someone know that you are thinking of them during that difficult time.

Ellie currently has housing and lives with her husband David who is also a cardmaker with Second Story Cards. Ellie receives 15% of the sales of this card and an additional 5% is donated to Daybreak Arts.

We wanted this card to be soft and soothing so we chose to make this a letterpress card and run it on the old but trusty Heidelberg press. We used Crane's luxurious 100% cotton Lettra stock which is one of our favoritees.
