Eric Thompson-Bey (Wash., DC)

BIKE LANE LOVE

ETB1011
Regular price $5.50

This card idea was the collaboration of our cardmaker Eric Thompson-Bey and Topaz Terry, the owner of Bicycle Trash. "My main mode of transportation is a bicycle," declares Eric. "So it drives me nuts when people park in the bike lane. It's dangerous for cyclists." Topaz, who takes discarded bicycle parts and turns them into high-quality accessories, supports Eric's efforts. "I'm honored to work with him. His cards use simple, straightforward words and images to grab ahold of your heart and squeeze out all the feels." When he's not dodging vehicles, Eric is trying to keep his bike safe. He's lost two bicycles to theft recently. "I'm going to use some money from this card to get me a proper lock," he says. Eric has been homeless several times from 1997 to 2016. Currently, he has housing and is working hard to find better-paid employment in our nation's capital.

Eric receives 15% of the sales from this card. Second Story Cards also donates 10% of the profits of each card to a charity of the cardmaker's choice. Eric has chosen the Washington Area Bicyclist Association for this card.
