FRUITCAKE IS THE CARGO SHORTS OF THE HOLIDAYS

Part of what Eric Thompson-Bey likes about Christmas is the food. “You get together and have a good meal – and there are so many nice desserts around the holidays,” he says fondly. “But fruitcake is not ok. Why would anyone give that to someone they love?” And while he admits to owning some cargo shorts, he claims, “I actually use all the pockets.” Kidding aside, Eric is incredibly thankful to have housing after spending a good portion of the past 20 years in shelters and on the streets. He currently has an apartment in the Petworth neighborhood of Washington, DC.
