“His name sounds kinda similar to Santa Claus, but I’m pretty sure they’re polar opposites,” laughs Daniel Holmes of Nashville, TN. “I was disappointed to learn that DeSantis was a strong supporter of banning dozens of books that include LGBTQ+ themes, protagonists of color, and ones that touch on race or racism.” While this card is lighthearted and pokes fun at the absurdity of some of the governor’s agenda, it’s a serious issue and is the widest form of censorship in the country. Books, like people, should have homes. Speaking of homes, we’re excited to share that Daniel now has housing after being homeless for three years.
